Born: Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, 1969.

Alejandro Osuna was born and raised in Tijuana, Baja California and is fully bilingual (English and Spanish).

He obtained his first Law Degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Tijuana Mexico (1995). He later obtained a Masters in Law (LLM) from the Center for International Education at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Law (1998).

In 2003 he was trained as mediator by the San Diego Mediation Center (now the National Conflict Resolution Center), where he remained as a volunteer mediator and trainer.

In 2010 he attended a summer course on International Commercial Arbitration focusing on Investor vs State Disputes at American University's Washington College of Law.  

Other courses he has taken include Intellectual Property and on International Loan Agreements.

EXPERIENCE

He has represented mostly US clients in incorporating Mexican entities, and entering eal estate contracts for commercial and residential purposes. He has also provided assistance in drafting international contracts for the distribution, sales and supply of goods.

During 1998 he was a summer intern at Aluminum Company of America's (ALCOA) corporate office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he worked on a project involving the Mexican manufacturing business in Mexico.

On the dispute resolution aspect of his practice, he has represented US and Mexican clients in complex litigation involving software development agreements, international sales disputes, real estate contract litigation and trademark infringement.

He is also experienced in the field of International Judicial Cooperation, in the taking of evidence, international service of process, and has enforced judgments in Mexico.

Mr. Osuna has published commentary on cases involving the application of the Sales Convention, which appears at PACE University’s website on the CISG.

 

 

As an International Speaker, Author and part-time Academic

In 2009 he was invited to become a member of the International Trade Center's Pro Bono Committee on International Contract Law, and worked on an important project involving the drafting of a Legal Guide for International Contracts.

In April 2005, he was a panelist at the even Celebrating Success: 25 Years of the United Nation's Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, held in Vienna, Austria, organized the United Nation's Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and the Vienna, Chamber of Commerce.

 Also in 2005, he was invited to particiapate at a conference The CISG Digest as a Contract Drafting Tool.

Alejandro Osuna has published books on his own, and contributed in English and Spanish on international contract law, and is often sought for his expertise on the topic as a practitioner, and even as a part-time professor.

He has taught at local private and State Universities in Mexico, as well as in Puerto Rico, and Spain.
